I’m all for organic products and the many uses of hemp, but can’t someone make a hemp protein powder that you’d want to drink? First of all, this powder is green. Second of all, it tastes horrible. I added it to different kinds of juice to try to get the best flavor results. After less than a week, I can no longer bring myself to drink it. Just looking at the canister makes me nauseous. Unless you can stomach gross taste and gross appearance, I strongly suggest you go with a different product.

I like the Organic Hemp Protein supplement and mix a drink to bring to work with me for lunch each morning. The look of the powder is a bit green and grassy at first but the taste is not unbearable. I usually mix the 4 recommended table spoons of the hemp protein with 3 table spoons of ground flaxseed. I top it off with one table spoon of organic honey and another table spoon of organic maple syrup and add cold water. I use a 28 oz. Blender Bottle as a mixer and shake for about 30 seconds to 1 minute and my drink is good to go. It is quite tasty once you get past the look of it. I love this protein. My only wish is that it came in a bigger container as the 16 oz container sold here barely lasts me 2 weeks.

I’ve been trying to incorporate more omega 3’s and 6’s into my diet in good proportions, and for awhile I was adding ground flax seed to my smoothies (I’ve heard that you want to try to get more omega 3’s than 6’s because 3’s can promote anti-inflammatory compounds, while too many 6’s can promote inflammation and depression), but I had to stop because it was unbearably gritty. In want of a plant-based protein, I bought this product because if it’s price and purity.

To minimize any icky flavor, I used strongly flavored fruits like banana, blueberry, and strawberry with an orange juice base, added a tbs of flax seed oil, a tbs almond butter, and 4 tbs of this hemp seed powder. I can just barely taste it, the flavor comes through as nutty with the almond butter as other reviewers said, and it is slightly gritty, but it’s tolerable. Nowhere close to milled flax seed. So far, this protein gets a 2 thumbs up!

I have been using this product for 3 or 4 years. For those of you who do not like the taste, try mixing it with chocolate. Mix it with chocolate ice cream(I use Soy Delicious, being a vegan). Chocolate seems to netralize the flavor of the hemp. I also mix a scoop of hemp protein with a bowl of oatmeal sweetened with cactus nectar. It tastes very good, provide you use the right amount of sweetner.

Yes, I was surprised by the color AND found the taste to my liking. It was fresh, clean and earthy. Also easy to use and a nutritional powerhouse.

I use it in iced tea, or mixed with yogurt, or in a frozen bananna smoothie.
